I tore the extensor tendon on my right thumb. I had surgery to repair the tendon but during the recovery time, the tendon tore again. My surgeon said that he doesn’t think a second surgery would help so he is denying a second repair. What is the success rate of a second surgery to repair this tendon? Thank you for this video. On May 1rst 2021 my hand was lacerated by broken mirror glass. A 14 stitch long laceration that cut both the tendons in my thumb and a nerve. Thankfully I had an amazing surgical team that made the repair successful. I did three months of occupational therapy, for this was done to my dominant hand and I couldn’t use my right hand the entire time. It cost me my marketing job, and the small business I launched just one month prior to the incident. Today there’s still numbness, tingling, and a little loss of my range of motion. Mentally it’s hard to shake, this video felt like closure that I very much needed. Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏽

I had zone 2 flexor tendon surgery about 25 years ago. Severed both the FDS,and the FDP. I have full movement,but scar is still very stiff. I still rub the scar all the time. Is this normal?
On October 23rd 2015 I hurt my hand. I had a cut on the knuckle of my middle finger on my right hand. I didn't have the wound stitched and my hand was swollen. Three weeks later my hand was still swollen so I went to hospital. The hospital told me I severed my extendor tendon. On the 16th of Noverember 2015 I had an operation to repair the extendor tendon. My hand was put in a plaster cast for a week then I had to wear a splint on my hand that supported my middle finger. I have been having therapy. I know it can take up to 12 weeks before I can use my hand properly. The thing that is worrying me is my middle finger has swollen to twice its size. The extendor tendon I damaged was the one attached to my middle finger. Is it normal for my finger to become so swollen after an repair operation on my tendon? The flexor tendon is starting to hurt too. Is the swelling and pain because of scaring as my tendon heals?
