Better still, wear a surgical glove. This mostly eliminates any possible contact infection. It's easier to measure the ointment on your finger, then apply it from your gloved finger under the lid, just like you'd insert a contact lens.

I wish my doctor told me this. Haist, got too many in my eyes now. Put it using my finger. The ointment keeps going out the tube don't know how to stop them
This does not work! The ointment is so thick that it doesnt leave the tube when pushed against the lower lid pocket. the lower lid pocket is too slippery and thus no friction. Thus ointment just stays attached to the nozzle on the tube and doesnt move over to the eye
my ointment doesn't leave on my eyes since it is thicker than what you used for demonstration…no matter how i twist it, it sticks on the tube and not on my eyes…what should i do?
also, i have long lashes so some gets stuck on it which makes my vision very blurry than expected..

Still difficult with the really thick stuff used for a scratch on the cornea. I always end up touching my eyelid to break off the spaghetti that insists on unfurling out of the tube even when you only squeeze very gently. Have to sanitise the end of the tube with a wipe. Never had an infection from it yet. Great advice though as it probably works for most lesser ointments.
I have a blocked tear duct that got infected putting ointment in the eye is the worst and I've had 12 surgeries. First you don't know if it actually got in there because I wear glasses so it's already hard to see that thin ass clear strip. Second due to the inner eye being moist it's not like it just wants to come off like it's a part of your dry rough skin. If the doctor ever prescribes me an ointment again for my eye I'm going to punch him in the mouth especially when I know they have eye drops that do the same thing. I basically have to just smear the ointment on my eyeball so I know that it gets in there. It doesn't go in there that easy at least mine doesn't if you have any tips that would be grateful.
