Cleaned and lubricated with what?
I would have loved to see what you took apart and cleaned. Did you just take the screws out of the part on top of the motor and clean?
I have finally decided to get this door awning fixed on my Newmar. My only concern is that I do not hear any noise what so ever when I hit the switch to open the awning. Maybe my motor is shot?? It did work when I purchased the coach but not for long. I don't use it but am about to put my Newmar up for sale and want it working for the next owner. Thanks for the video!! You all have saved me several times.
Thank you so much it help me fixed my entry awning motor. I don’t have to remove the whole motor assembly i just remove the motor to each housing cut wire clean it up test motor using battery booster then re assemble back to the housing connect wire then put back all screws and cover it … now it works again and save me a lot of money….again thank you very much

Does anyone know of information regarding the fabric replacement of one of these A & E Systems manual door awnings?
My similar Carefree One Touch quit in the closed position after my son powerwashed the roof. I assume (hope) he just got water in the horizontal motor, because if its in the One Touch control module/switch system things get really complicated to track down. Your video gives me some insight.
But do you have any advice re. mine, because the "Tubular Motor Replacement Kit" manual online at Carefree implies I must drill 1/2" holes through the unit's end cap in 3 places in order to access the screws holding the end plate covering the motor? That means the end cap has to be then replaced unless I instead can somehow pry it off the end plate (it apparently was "snapped" on).
And removing the motor may not be easy because to slide it to the left and out of its tube it will hit the nearby slideout cover awning and/or the main awning's arms. Just wondering if you had experience with Carefree over-the-door ones like mine, with tubular motors.
My next project, it worked fine when I purchased it in the spring but nothing now. Can't tell you how helpful your videos have been.
At 4:12you can see into the roller tube fitting that slides over the output shaft of the motor. There is a small shear key built into the tube fitting. When this shears, the awning suddenly springs out on its own. Failure mode: SPROING!! I drilled and tapped a screw into the tube where the key used to be and then ground the screw flush to the outside of the tube. Drilling a hole and using metal epoxy might work as well.
Make sure you clean the tiny water drain hole in the cover under the motor. It doesn't take much dirt to clog that little drain hole. I increased the size of the drain hole on mine and have had no more problems with the motor
Another great job of explaining both in words and video. I would have had a very hard time figuring out how to remove the back piece. It turns out the red holding tabs on either side of mine had become gooped up and could not be displaced by the motor mechanism. Cleaning those and lubricating them (used wd40, dryed, then graphite) solved my problems. … and here I thought I'd seen all your videos 🙂
how do i repair the motor? i got one on a customer coach that works intermittently. or it will work then motor slowly dies.
I just bought an ‘06 Monaco with that kind of door awning. It extended just fine but won’t retract. The motor runs and tries but the arms look like they’ve extended perfectly straight. Perhaps I should have let go of the button sooner?
Anyway, it’s extended and the right side appears an inch or so lower than the right side.
Any advice?

WOW — I can't wait to try this. thank you, thank you, thank you!! ours is stuck out, hear the motor, but not turning. We guess it has broken pieces in the gears. Hopefully it will be as easy peasy as yours.
Having same issue as Harry Leonard had a few months ago. I got the motor out and bench tested it and it's working fine. I think the problem then is the roller that it is attached too has broken. I was retracting the awning and it just popped open suddenly sounding like something snapped. That also makes me think something broke/snapped when the motor retracted awning. Is there a parts diagram for the Oasis Elite door awning that I can see what part I need to order? Can't seem to find one for the shade roller. The one previously posted does not look like the F45i, that is installed over my door.

Thanks a million. I have always followed you guys, One because your videos are very well done, and second because We also have a 2005 Mountain Air. Co-incidentally today I was outside trying to figure out just how I was going to get that darn awning motor off of our door awning. And low and behold I found this how to video. FYI, I had called a local RV repair outfit and they wanted around $1000. just to replace the motor. They never even tried to clean the motor. Thankfully I told them that I'd pass, and then I found your video…. Thanks Again…

yes i don't recall exactly but it came off, it had little weights in it on springs. just replaced the end cap of the roller.
yes it came from dometic, I found the original paperwork in the huge suite case of manuals and called the number on there, the lady on the end of the phone new exactly what part it was, blamed it on a bad supplier. fixed it right up. we also replaced the material at this time, but made our own, the wanted way to much for that. i will look for the paperwork and see what the PN is.
I got the motor out and bench tested it and it's working fine. I think the problem then is the roller that it is attached too has broken. I accidently hit retract when I wanted to extend and when I did the awning just popped open suddenly. That makes me think I broke something there when the motor tried to turn against the already retracted awning. Is there a parts diagram for the Oasis Elite door awning that I can see what part I need to order? Can't seem to find one for the shade roller.
The other awning frame is so close to the step awning I cannot get any kind of screw driver back there to fit into the screw. Is there a trick to getting something to fit back there?
First class video. Based on your comment, you pop riveted the motor back in place, why not a screw? This is not a criticism, as I truly appreciate the great video.

Hello, I was wondering how to drive a Class A. We just purchased a 40 footer Newmar Dutch Star and have no idea how to drive it. Your tips and teaching abilities would be able to help us! You should make a video on this.
great video…ours was stuck in the out position so I had to remove it…bench testing it I found it would always extend but never retract. Turns out it was the round piece that the motor turns. Dometic got us for $75 on that piece but it fixed it so I guess I got off cheap.

i had to do the same thing to my unit a few years ago and clean the motor but i left the gear box on and pulled the upper 2 bolts out
i all so added a new hole on the under side of the cover for water to flow out as my motor was standing in water in the cover
